“In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abraham, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river.” ~Genesis 15:18
“For out of Zion shall go forth the Word of the LORD from Jerusalem.” ~Isaiah 2:3
Syria and Egypt vs. Israel~One Last Time
Are we living in the last days of Daniel 11 and Isaiah 19? Will Ezekiel 38-39 follow? I’d like to present this as a forum to explore prophecy and share ideas, because none of us really know God’s timing, we only know what we read and try to interpret. So please, feel free to comment, join in, because I’d love to hear what the brethren have to say about all this…
In Daniel 11:5, an angel appeared to Daniel and said, “Also the king of the South shall become strong, as well as one of his princes, and he shall gain power over him and have dominion. His dominion shall be a great dominion.” It goes on to say that the daughter of the king of the South will join forces with the king of the North and that “she shall not retain the power of her authority…,” “..but from a branch in her roots one shall arise in his place, who shall come with an army, enter the fortress of the king of the North, and deal with them and prevail.” Daniel 11:9 says, “Also the king of the North shall come to the kingdom of the king of the South, but shall return to his own land.”
The battling continues until Daniel 11:40-45~”At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through. He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon. He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. He shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; also the Libyans and Ethiopians shall follow at his heels. But news from the east and the north shall trouble him; therefore he shall go out with great fury to destroy and annihilate many. And he shall plant the tents of his palaces between the seas and the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and no one will help him.” Interestingly, Daniel 11:27 tells us of the relationship between the two kings, “Both these kings’ hearts shall be bent on evil, and they shall speak lies at the same table; but it shall not prosper, for the end will still be at the appointed time.” According to everything I’ve read so far, it seems that Syria is king of the North and Egypt is king of the South, and that for a time, Syria conquers Egypt, so we’ll go along with that for now. Two things I wonder about here though: (1) Why does the antichrist spare Edom, Moab, and Ammon? If what I’ve read is correct, aren’t these the Palestinians? and (2) The news from the east and the north disturbs him…who are they?
Proclamation Against Syria and Israel
The burden against Damascus
Isaiah 17:1-4~”Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, and it will be a ruinous heap. The cities of Aroer are forsaken, they will be for flocks which lie down, and no one will make them afraid. The fortress also will cease from Ephraim, the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria; they will be as the glory of the children of Israel,” saith the Lord of hosts.
Amos 1:3-5 “Thus saith the Lord; for three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron: but I will send a fire unto the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad. I will also break the bar of Damascus.” The revelation was this: Syria has engaged in war with the State of Israel three times (1948, 1967, and 1973), but the fourth time will bring about the downfall of Syria, marked by the destruction of its capital city, Damascus. This will be a prophetic sign of an even more significant event to follow: a direct invasion of Israel by Russia, supported by Iran (Persia) and Russia’s other allies as described in Ezekiel 38-39.
Micah 5:6~ And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof; thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he comes into our land, and when he treads within our borders.” Since modern Iraq was encompassed by the ancient Assyrian empire, and in light of recent alliances formed between Iraq and Syria, it is likely that Iraq will be involved in this war and suffer the same fate. During October 2000, Saddam Hussein moved several divisions of troops along the Jordanian border in preparation for joining any war against Israel. With the consent of the Syrian president, Iraq has also moved some divisions near its Syrian border to assist in the “liberation of Palestine.” He has also relocated 70,000 troops near the Kuwait border again, possibly to stage another occupation of Kuwait during the turmoil of a regional war against Israel. As indicated in Micah 5:6, Israel’s response to aggressors will be severe. Obviously, at no time since Israel’s modern rebirth as a nation has she “wasted the land of Assyria,” much less Damascus. Apart from losing the Golan Heights in the 1967 Six Day War, Syria has mostly been untouched. However, according to these prophetic Scriptures: Isaiah 19:1~ “So shall it stand: that I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon My mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.”
Proclamation Against Egypt
Isaiah 19:1-4~The burden against Egypt. Behold, the Lord rides on a swift cloud, and will come into Egypt; the idols of Egypt will totter at His presence, and the heart of Egypt will melt in its midst. “I will set Egyptians against Egyptians; everyone will fight against his brother, and everyone against his neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kingdom. The spirit of Egypt will fail in its midst; I will destroy their counsel, and they will consult the idols and the charmers, the mediums and the sorcerers. And the Egyptians I will give into the hand of a cruel master, and a fierce king will rule over them,” saith the Lord, the Lord of hosts. The prophetic metaphor of a “swift cloud” coming into Egypt that causes the “melting” of Egypt’s heart and the “moving” (shaking) of its idols might aptly describe an incoming nuclear-tipped missile and its results. Whatever the meaning, divine judgment upon both Syria and Egypt seemed to be linked prophetically (Isaiah 31), which is possibly the reason why these two nations share a restoration together.
Israel, Egypt, and Assyria Blessed
Isaiah 19:18-25~ “In that day, five cities in the land of Egypt will speak the language of Canaan and swear by the Lord of hosts; one will be called the City of Destruction. In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the Lord at its border. And it will be for a sign and for a witness to the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they will cry to the Lord because of the oppressors, and He will send them a Savior and a Mighty One, and He will deliver them. Then the Lord will be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will know the Lord in that day, and will make sacrifice and offering; yes, they will make a vow to the Lord and perform it. And the Lord will strike Egypt, He will strike and heal it; they will return to the Lord, and He will be entreated by them and heal them. In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian will come into Egypt and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians will serve with the Assyrians. In that day Israel will be one of three with Egypt and Assyria~a blessing in the midst of the land, whom the Lord of hosts shall bless, saying, “Blessed is Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance.”
Wow. This is going to be absolutely awesome, and I can’t wait for the day when this happens. Praise to God in the Highest! Just imagining that Israel, Syria, and Egypt will be one is a pleasure I can’t wait to see come to pass. Can you imagine?
Now let’s get into the discussion part of this. I’m trying to figure out current geopolitical alliances, for the sake of learning prophecy but also for the sake of knowing who to reach out to, as I’m active on Twitter; who to support, who to, if you will, watch out for. My first question is: where does America fit into prophecy? I know it’s an age-old question, because it’s not clear in the Bible. Obama is clearly supportive of the Muslim Brotherhood, apologizes for America, bows to the Saudi king, invites a communist dictator to a State Dinner, refuses to protect our borders, and raises our debt beyond anything we’ve ever seen before. He is intentionally bringing down America, and we can no longer deny this. So where does he stand on foreign policy? He has no problem dealing with Egypt and Libya, but for some reason he has not said much about Syria, or Bahrain, for that matter. Or Yemen. If we helped others for “humanitarian” purposes, why are we not helping Syria? Have we sent any ambassadors to either Egypt or Libya recently? I don’t think so, but Obama sent Ambassador Robert Ford to Syria a few months ago. Hmm. Does America align with the king of the North? We know that Iran is fomenting unrest in countless regions, and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been arming and financing Syria for some time, among others. Ahmadinejad believes he is the one chosen to usher in the Hidden Mahdi, or the Twelfth Imam, and he also believes Obama plays an important part. So where does America fit in? Do we join Syria, and Egypt, in a war against Israel? What do you guys think? It looks like we do, but I’d like to hear your thoughts…
Bashar al-Assad (Bashar al-Wahash) “The Beast”
President of Syria~King of the North?
Hafez al-Assad, Bashar’s father, was born Hafez al-Wahash, which translates to “the beast”. He later had his name changed to al-Assad, which means “the lion”. Bashar Assad was born, in Damascus, on September 11, 1965. Had it not been for his brother Basil’s “accidental” death in 1994, Bashar would probably be practicing opthamology in London. Murder was suspected, but authorities decided to call it accidental. Hafez, devastated by the loss, pressed Bashar to abandon his career in medicine and prepare for the presidency. “And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast.” ~Revelation 13:3 It’s been suggested that the deadly wound could be Basil’s, and that Bashar carries on in his brother’s stead. Particularly interesting is that the verse says, “one of his heads.” Could the wound suffered in this verse be interpreted to mean his brother’s wound?
We know Bashar Assad is a cruel man who has led a cruel life, suppressing his people and denying them freedoms. Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have detailed how Bashar’s regime and security police routinely torture, imprison, and kill political opponents and those who speak out against the regime. He has tightened Internet censorship with laws such as forcing Internet cafes to record all the comments users pose on chat forums. He permits the existence of radio stations playing Western pop music, but websites such as Wikipedia, Youtube, Facebook and Amazon have been blocked. Syria has expanded the use of travel bans against dissidents, illegal under international law. Syria is the worst offender in the Middle East. The US, EU, Israel, the March 14 Alliance, and France accused Assad of logistically supporting militant groups aimed at Israel and any opposing member to his government. Assad claimed the U.S. could benefit from the Syrian experience in fighting organizations like the Muslim Brotherhood at the Hama Massacre. He opposed the 2003 invasion of Iraq, and a U.S. General accused him of providing funding, logistics, and training to Iraqi and foreign Muslims to launch attacks on U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq. In 2011 he described himself as “anti-Israel” and “anti-West”, and told the Wall Street Journal that he was in no danger of being overthrown because of these policies.
In a speech about the 2006 Arab~Israeli conflict in August 2006, Assad said that Hezbollah had “hoisted the banner of victory,” hailing its actions as a “successful resistance.” He claimed that Arab resistance was growing stronger and warned Israel that, “your warplanes, rockets, and your atomic bomb will not protect you in the future.” He called Israel an “enemy” with whom no peace could be achieved as long as they and their allies (especially the U.S.) support the practice of preemptive war. In the same speech, he called Arab leaders who have criticized Hezbollah “half-men.” In April 2008, Assad told a Qatari newspaper that Syria and Israel had been discussing a peace treaty for a year, with Turkey as a go-between. This was confirmed in 2008 by a spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. Assad was quoted in The Guardian as telling the Qatari paper: “…there would be no direct negotiations with Israel until a new U.S. President takes office. The U.S. was the only party qualified to sponser any direct talks,” Assad told the paper, but added that the Bush Administration “does not have the vision or will for the peace process. It does not have anything.”
According to leaked American cables, Assad called Hamas an “uninvited guest” and said “if you want me to be effective and active, I have to have a relationship with all parties. Hamas is Muslim Brotherhood, but we have to deal with the reality of their presence”, comparing Hamas to the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood which was crushed by his father Hafez. He then claimed Hamas would disappear if peace was brought to the Middle East. Assad has indicated that the peace treaty he envisions would not be the same as the one between Israel and Egypt. He clearly is someone to watch, and although I haven’t researched his relationship with Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas, I plan to do so. I’m curious as to what it is.
Israel, you clearly are victorious, and I look forward to what HaShem said in Isaiah: “Blessed is Egypt My people, and Syria the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance.” This is a call, a call to God, because He’s talking to us. He wants us to know His Son, Yeshua Messiah. He has so much work for us to do, and so many blessings and miracles in store for us, and although we live in a rapidly changing world, we can rest in the knowledge that God is with us, He hears us, and He wants us to hear Him as well. So, prophecy students, teachers, masters.. where do you think America stands in all this? Do we join Syria? Does Obama let the Muslim Brotherhood take over America? I’m really interested to hear what you all have to say…
